On Saturday October 24, 2020 Dr. Frank Ho of Shenzhen Chengmei International Medical Clinic provided an interactive CPR training course for members of Lazy Laowai. Kris, founder of Lazy Laowai, plans on opening his own gym in the Shekou district and intends for his potential gym instructors to be trained appropriately.
The American Heart Association on October 20, 2020 published in the journal Circulation an update on their scientifically-backed consensus guidelines in the administration of basic and advanced life support. CPR guidelines largely remained unchanged with the emphasis being on high quality CPR as well as early defibrillation.
During the course Dr. Ho demonstrated proper CPR technique and provided basic victim assessment techniques while utilizing a computerized training mannequin.
Dr. Ho remarks, “The AHA really is making an emphasis on high-quality, timely CPR with as little interruption as possible. Additionally, getting an AED (i.e. defibrillator) early in the process continues to remain a mainstay of treatment.”
“Hopefully, with the spread of this important knowledge, early treatment of cardiac arrest victims can save more lives,” Dr. Ho commented.
At the completion of the training, Chris from Attitude Cross Fit remarked, “Super informative and insightful. We learned a lot!”
